Closet By Cath was established in May of 2019 at the height of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Its goal was to allow lovers of fashion to be able to shop safely while in-person businesses were shut down, to provide affordable clothing, and to promote sustainability. We sell a wide variety of styles, from modern items to one-of-a-kind vintage pieces.
My name is Cathy (some people call me Cath!), and I am 24 years old from Boston, Massachusetts. I graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology, and a minor in Spanish. I’m moving to Chicago in July 2020 to pursue my Doctorate of Medicine (M.D.) at Loyola University of Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, where I’ll be for the next 4 years.
Ever since I was little, I had dreamt of becoming a fashion designer. I remember drawing designs on small stick figures, and taking that notebook everywhere. Although my desires to become a fashion designer stopped, my love for fashion didn’t. During my time at Northeastern, I started working part-time for a custom t-shirt company called University Tees. I worked with many student organizations to help bring their designs to life, and even attended a national conference with the company.
Everything sold from our business is 100% ethically sourced and secondhand. Shopping secondhand thrifted clothing is one of the best ways to reduce clothing waste in landfills.
